A truck braking system is the system of components that work together to slow down or stop a truck. The braking system includes the brake pedal, brake lines, brake calipers or brake drums, brake pads or brake shoes, and the wheels.
When the driver presses the brake pedal, brake fluid is forced through the brake lines to the brake calipers or brake drums. The brake calipers or drums then clamp down on the brake pads or shoes, which press against the rotors or drums to slow down the wheels and bring the truck to a stop.
